LONDON (Alliance News) - Diageo PLC Monday said it is launching a new global innovation programme, called Diageo Technology Ventures, under which the company will work with emerging technology companies and entrepreneurs.
Under the programme, the FTSE 100-listed drinks group will work with companies to pilot technology solutions in response to a range of focused business briefs. Successful applicants on the programme will work with Diageo staff on developing the solutions and the company will commit a USD100,000 fund to support each pilot project.
The programme will launch with a brief calling for technologies and platforms which will help consumers to drink responsibly. It will challenge the applicants to capitalise on existing digital behaviours or utilise already-widely-available platforms used by young adults above the legal alcohol purchase limit age.
"Tech start-ups and entrepreneurs are truly defining disruptive innovation, driven by an irrepressible appetite to experiment and a willingness to take risks. Diageo Technology Ventures allows us to access this world as we look to solve some of our biggest business challenges," said Diageo Chief Marketing Officer Syl Saller.
Diageo shares were down 0.3% to 1,811.50 pence on Monday.
