Diageo Appoints UK Civil Service Chief Executive Manzoni To Board

24th Apr 2020 10:04

(Alliance News) - Diageo PLC said Friday it will appoint John Manzoni as non-executive director with effect on October 1.

At the same time, Evan Mervyn Davies, also known as Lord Davies of Abersoch, will retire from the same role at the end of June after ten years since 2010.

Manzoni's most recent role was as chief executive of the UK Civil Service, a role which he will leave in the coming months after six years since 2014. He also has been permanent secretary for the UK Cabinet Office for five years since 2015.

"I am very pleased that John will be joining the Diageo board later this year. John's commercial acumen and business knowledge, together with his more recent experience, combined with his previous non-executive director role in the beverage industry, will bring unique insight and expertise to the discussions at the Diageo board," said Chair Javier Ferran.

Shares in the FTSE 100 alcoholic drinks maker were down 0.9% at 2,661.50 pence on Friday in London.
