Deltex Says First Four Months Progress Good, Wins New Trainer Account

6th May 2015 08:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - Deltex Medical Group PLC Wednesday said it has made good progress in the first four months of its current year and is on track in the key areas of its business, and said it has established its first remote trainer account in the US.

Deltex makes oesophageal Doppler monitoring technology.

It has been signing a series of dedicated trainer accounts in the US, where it sends trainers into hospitals to teach physicians to use its technology. The new remote account with a teaching hospital in New York State which has elected to implement its own clinical training programmes with minimal, mostly remote support from Deltex.

In a statement ahead of its annual general meeting, the company said that it has taken measures including cutting headcount to improve its performance in the UK after a difficult 2014.

UK sales in the first four months of 2015 were close to flat as sales of third party products offset a decline in probe sales. May and June were strong months in the UK, and Deltex said it was difficult to assess the underlying level of demand for its products, as well as the hit from the UK National Health Services' decision to abandon its implementation drive for oesophageal Doppler monitoring equipment.

The company cited 2015 as an "important year", as it shifts its focus to the US and other overseas market from the UK.

"Progress to date is encouraging and, although our growth expectations are weighted towards the second half of the year, we are on track to exit the year with the business in a strong position to profit from the evolving global market for enhanced haemodynamic monitoring," Chairman Nigel Keen said in the statement.

Shares in Deltex are trading up 1.2% at 6.20 pence Wednesday morning.
