Deltex Medical Gets Big Order After NHS Supply Chain Deal Is Extended

26th Mar 2014 11:50

LONDON (Alliance News) - Deltex Medical Group PLC Wednesday said it had extended its framework agreement with NHS Supply Chain and secured a substantial order through it from a Northern Ireland Hospital.

In a statement, the maker of oesophageal Doppler monitoring equipment said the NHS Supply Chain agreement has been extended for a further two years until March 2016.

Under the agreement, NHS hospitals can acquire the company's CardioQ-ODM and CardioQ-ODM+ monitors from NHS Supply Chain without having to go through any further tender process.

Since agreeing the extension, a hospital in Northern Ireland has bought four CardioQ-ODM+ monitors through NHS Supply Chain and an initial stock of surgical probes, Deltex said. The order is worth GBP47,000 and is the largest yet placed with the company through NHS Supply Chain, it added.

Doppler monitoring systems are used to measure blood flow during surgery by generating a low-frequency ultrasound signal utilising the Doppler effect. The Doppler effect, discovered by Austrian physicist Christian Doppler, is the change in frequency of a wave for an observer moving relative to its source, such as the way in which the noise of a siren changes when it passes by.

Deltex Medical shares were flat at 12.75 pence Thursday morning.
