LONDON (Alliance News) - Imaging and 3D technology company DDD Group PLC said on Friday its commercialising subsidiary GenMe Inc has signed a software distribution agreement to provide TriDef SmartCam software to multimedia specialist AVerMedia Technologies Inc.
DDD Group said AVerMedia will be using the software for its LGX Live Gamer Extreme game capture and streaming box, which allows the recording of gameplay from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U consoles.
The TriDef SmartCam software enables users to replace their webcam background with different images or footage, meaning gaming users will be able to live stream their gameplay, with their faces in front of the footage.
The three-year, non-exclusive affiliate agreement will operate on a revenue sharing basis. Under the terms of the deal, AVerMedia will offer TriDef SmartCam to new and existing LGX users as a free download from the TriDef website. After a 14-day trial, users will be able to purchase the TriDef SmartCam for USD9.99.
No financial details of the deal were provided.
"Gamecasting is a rapidly growing market thanks to platforms like Twitch and YouTube and we look forward to working with AVerMedia, one of the leading developers of game capture solutions, to bring the TriDef SmartCam capabilities to this rapidly growing audience," said Chief Executive Chris Yewdall.
Shares in DDD Group were up 22% at 1.83 pence on Friday morning.
