DDD Group Hits 3-Month High On Strong TriDef Sales, Software Prospects

15th Jan 2015 09:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - DDD Group PLC Thursday said that shipments of its TriDef 3D consumer products have crossed the 50 million mark, largely due to a 20% year-on-year increase in 3D TV chip shipments during 2014, while its soon-to-be-launched software products had got a positive response at a recent key trade show and it is already talking with mobile market customers about them.

TriDef 3D conversion technologies automatically convert 2D images, movies and games to 3D, to enable a consumer to view a variety of content in 3D. More than 51 million consumer electronic goods now have the technology pre-installed, the company said.

The advanced imaging and 3D technology company said it had shown its soon-to-be-launched range of software products at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show, and had "garnered a lot of positive feedback from prospective customers".

It said the feedback was particularly good for its TriDef Motionview and KapChat apps, which use its recently-launched TriDef SmartCam technology that enables real time user tracking and background substitution using the conventional webcam found in most mobile products including PCs, tablets and smartphones.

"Following our product demonstration at CES, we have received a great deal of positive feedback from prospective clients and I am optimistic that this will convert into further licensing deals for our latest advanced imaging technologies. We are already engaged in technical and commercial discussions with customers in the mobile market to integrate some of our new apps on their smartphones and tablets," DDD Chief Executive Chris Yewdall said in a statement.

DDD added that it expects to put out its 2014 results in the week starting April 13.

DDD Group shares were up 13.3% at 3.83 pence Thursday morning, making it one of the best-performing stocks on the AIM All-Share index on the day and marking a three-month high for the stock.
