LONDON (Alliance News) - DDD Group PLC on Friday said its Australian subsidiary has filed a patent lawsuit in Los Angeles alleging the range of 3D television made by South Korea-based LG Electronics infringe on three of its patents.
DDD said the complaint, made by its Dynamic Digital Depth Research Pty Ltd unit, alleges the automatic 2D to 3D conversion function on LG's televisions infringes three patents held in the US by DDD.
The complaint is seeking injuctive relief and unspecified monetary damages from the infringements.
"DDD has invested heavily in its intellectual property portfolio over the years and we have licensed the DDD technology to many companies on fair and reasonable terms. Unfortunately, some companies have refused to license the proprietary DDD technology that they are using. We are pleased to have an experienced team of top litigators helping to enforce DDD's IP rights with respect to LG and to generate additional returns on DDD's IP investments," said DDD chief executive Chris Yewdall.
DDD shares were down 9.1% to 2.5 pence in early trade, one of the worst performers in the AIM All-Share.
