Cyrpotex: In Vitro Skin Sensitisation Test Using KeratinoSens Launched

9th Sep 2014 08:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - Cyprotex PLC Tuesday said a new in vitro screening service for determining skin sensitisation has been launched using the KeratinoSens test method.

The new launch of the test comes after the European Union Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing in February recommended KeratinoSens assay for use within an integrated strategy for skin sensitisation testing.

The new test expands Cyprotex's portfolio of in vitro alternatives to animal testing, which the company said is a key aim for regulatory authorities, in particular within the cosmetics and personal care markets.

"We are committed to keeping up-to-date with the regulatory authorities recommended approaches, and to developing our own novel technologies to better understand complex issues such as skin sensitisation. The launch of KeratinoSens expands our portfolio of assays ensuring we maintain our competitive position in this area," said Cyprotex Chief Executive Anthony Baxter.

Cyprotex shares were down 2.0% to 50.00 pence on Tuesday.
