(Alliance News) - CT Private Equity Trust PLC on Monday said Lead Fund Manager Hamish Mair will retire from the company and Columbia Threadneedle Investments after the firm's annual general meeting in May.
The Edinburgh-based investment trust for private equity assets said Mair will be replaced by Deputy Fund Manager Andrew Carnwath.
Mair will remain a senior adviser to Columbia Threadneedle Investments and will be able to provide advice to the private equity investment team, it added.
"Hamish Mair was instrumental in the creation of the Company in 1999, then known as Martin Currie Capital Return Trust PLC, and has been responsible for its management for the subsequent 26 years," noted CT Private Equity Trust.
It added that under Mair's leadership the company was recognised in May 2024 as one of eight investment trusts or funds available to UK investors, managed by the same lead manager for twenty years, which had outperformed Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
"The board thanks Hamish Mair for his invaluable contribution to the success of the company and his tireless enthusiasm for the private equity sector and the opportunities that it can provide to investors. The board looks forward with confidence to continuing the company's success under the management of Andrew Carnwath," said Chair Richard Gray.
Shares in CT Private Equity Trust were down 3.1% at 506.00 pence on Monday morning in London.
