CT Global total return is below benchmark despite dividend boost

28th Jul 2025 12:53

(Alliance News) - CT Global Managed Portfolio Trust PLC on Monday reported a lower total return on income shares in financial 2025, despite higher dividend yields.

For the year that ended May 31, the Edinburgh-based investment manager posted a net asset value total return per income share of 4.2%. This was down from 7.0% on-year, and well-below its benchmark, the FTSE All-share index, which posted a NAV total return of 9.4% in financial 2025, compared with 15% the year prior.

CT Global said NAV per income share fell to 113.36p at May 31 from 116.51p on-year, while NAV per growth share rose to 265.86p from 259.29p.

Total dividend per income share rose by 2.7% to 7.60 pence from 7.40p the year prior. This reflected a 6.6% dividend yield on the income share price at May 31, ahead of the FTSE All-share index's yield of 3.5%.

Chair David Warnock commented: "While the economic backdrop remains relatively benign, there is a prevailing level of elevated uncertainty thanks, in the main, to the tariff policies of the US administration. While many tariff levels are likely to ultimately be lower than those threatened at the start of April, the global economy is still facing the highest level of tariffs since the 1930s.

Still, he added: "Provided the impact on growth, inflation and corporate earnings is limited, equity markets have the potential to continue to 'look through' the worst of the tariff headlines on the assumption that economic pragmatism will prevail."

Warnock noted signs that European, Asian and UK investments were beating the US towards the end of financial 2025, but maintained: "The US stock market, due to its wealth of technology stocks and deep capital markets, is likely to generate continued superior earnings growth versus the rest of the world."

CT Global income shares were up 1.6% to 121.43 pence and growth shares were down 0.6% to 268.29p on Monday afternoon in London. The company has a market capitalisation of GBP154.8 million.
