LONDON (Alliance News) - Pork and poultry producer Cranswick PLC on Wednesday said it has agreed to buy Northern Irish pork processing firm Dunbia Ballymena for an undisclosed amount in cash.
Dunbia currently processes around 7,800 UK farm-assured pigs per week from a facility in County Antrim, and the deal will boost Cranswick's capacity, in addition to establishing a substantial presence in Northern Ireland.
In the year to March 29, Dunbia reported GBP72.4 million in revenue.
"I am delighted to announce the acquisition of Dunbia's Ballymena pork processing business. This acquisition strengthens our UK pork processing business and provides us with greater control over our supply chain, ensuring that we can maintain the production and processing of high-quality, UK farm-assured, pigs which is central to our customer's requirements," said Cranswick Chief Executive Adam Couch.
