Covid-19 Claims Ascential's Money20/20 But Virtual Replacement Penned

4th Aug 2020 11:33

(Alliance News) - Ascential PLC on Tuesday announced the cancellation of its Money20/20 event in the US and Europe scheduled for October and September this year respectively.

The event is focused on enabling payments and financial services innovation for connected commerce at the intersection of mobile, retail, and sales markets.

They were due to be held on October 25-28 in the US and September 22-24 in Europe.

The cancellations are due to the possibility of Covid-19 spikes as well as the uncertainty of travel restrictions in the areas.

The company said: "We are no longer confident we can deliver physical events this year that meet the standard expected of Money20/20."

The information, data and analytics company however will be holding a virtual event on October 26-28 through a digital content programme, together with a dedicated networking platform for Money20/20's delegates and sponsors.

Chief Executive Duncan Painter said: "While it is obviously disappointing, this decision reflects the realities of the continued impact of Covid-19 in many regions of the world, and has been taken in the longer-term interest of the Money20/20 community."

Ascential shares were up 0.2% at 278.80 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
