(Alliance News) - Engineering solutions company Costain Group PLC on Tuesday said it has secured a GBP35 million contract to provide maintenance services to water and waste firm United Utilities PLC.
The company has been appointed as sole maintenance service provider by United Utilities across its operations under a framework contract for an initial period of five years, with an option to extend to 10 years.
Under the contract, Costain will provide overall management and delivery of United Utilities' water and waste water asset maintenance activities across the entirety of its network, including 96 water treatment and 575 waste water treatment sites.
Costain said its consulting solutions will help United Utilities to move from a reactive "fix-on-fail" approach to a proactive maintenance programme thereby improving the resilience of its assets and ensuring continuity of supply.
Shares in Costain were trading 0.3% higher at 303.50 pence each. United Utilities shares were down 0.4% at 803.20p.
