CORRECT: Seeing Machines Inks Sales Agreement, Begins South African Trials

24th Jul 2014 11:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - Seeing Machines Ltd said Wednesday it has inked a sales and marketing agreement with Finning International Inc, a dealer of Caterpillar Inc's construction and mining equipment, for its Drive State Sensor technology.

The technology uses a console-mounted camera to track operator eye behaviour to determine the drivers state.

Under the agreement Finning will provide sales and support for the product in Canada, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay.

Seeing Machines said it also has begun a trial of the technology with Insurance Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. The company will trial the technology with a South African logistics fleet to assess its ability to reduce fatigue- and distraction-related road accidents.

If the trial is successful, Insurance Underwriting will work with its national broker network and customers to broaden the uptake of the technology across its 25,000 insured commercial vehicles.

A number of new trials of the technology are being undertaken with First Quantum Minerals Ltd, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, QUBE Holdings Ltd and others.

"It's a significant time of international growth through increased application of our operator monitoring technology and we look forward to the continued pursuit of our strategic direction and plans that we have recently announced," said Chief Executive Ken Kroeger in a statement.
