(Correcting date for first hearing and for when claim was lodged.)
LONDON (Alliance News) - Premaitha Health PLC on Tuesday said the first hearing on the claims lodged by US medical tools maker Illumina Inc will take place in October and the outcome should be known by Christmas this year.
Illumina has filed two patent infringement suits, one of which is against Premaitha's Polish customer and other of which it against The Doctors Laboratory in the UK, which is supplied by Ariosa Diagnostics, a subsidiary of Swiss pharmaceuticals group Roche AG.
Illumina has claimed the IONA test, Premaitha's non-invasive pre-natal testing device, infringes on its patents, which Premaitha has denied.
The first UK hearing will take place in October, with a final decision expected by Christmas, Premaitha said. The case was first lodged by Illumina in March last year.
"We continue to defend these actions robustly and we remain focused on delivering patient choice through high quality non-invasive prenatal testing in the UK and internationally," said Stephen Little, Premaitha's chief executive.
