CORRECT: Ocean Wilsons Holdings Volumes Up In First Half

LONDON (Alliance News) - Maritime services company Ocean Wilsons Holdings Ltd Wednesday said its operating unit's container terminals handled 15% more volume in the first-half of 2014 compared with a year earlier, boosted by 7.2% growth in the second quarter.

Its towage volumes and offshore vessel numbers also rose in both the half and second quarter.

In a statement, the company said volumes handled at the Tecon Rio Grande container terminal rose 20.0% on the year in the first half and 14% in the second quarter, while volumes at Tecon Salvador rose 2.0% in the half despite falling 8.4% in the second quarter.

Average deadweights rose 9.6% in the first half and 10.5% in the second quarter in its towage business, while the number of harbour manoeuvres rose 7.7% in the half and 6.2% in the quarter. It had 22 offshore vessels in operation at the end of the half, up from 18 a year earlier, including 19 of its own vessels, up from 15.

Ocean Wilsons Holdings shares closed Friday 1.8% lower at 1,186.30 pence.
