Coral Products Recycling Plant Granted Accredited Re-Processor Status

9th Dec 2019 13:05

(Alliance News) - Coral Products PLC said Monday the plastic recycling facility at its Haydock mouldings plant has been granted accredited re-processor status via the UK Environment Agency.

As a result, Coral said, it can reduce its operational costs by fully off-setting the plastic packaging waste levy incurred at the plant.

"Due to very high internal and external capacity demand of clean recycled plastic the operational hours of our recycling unit will increase from the current 8 hour 5 day per week to 16 hour 5 day per week in December 2019. A further capacity increase to a 24 hour 5 day operation is planned to be completed by April 30 2020," the company said.

The accreditation comes into effect on January 1.

Chief Executive Mick Wood added: This accreditation is the culmination of many months of hard work by the Coral team. Following on from our new lightweight recycling bins and boxes that came on stream earlier in the year, it further demonstrates our focused commitment to plastic minimisation and 360 degree plastic recycling."

Shares in Coral Products were 2.1% higher in London on Monday at 7.15 pence each.
