LONDON (Alliance News) - Conygar Investment Co PLC on Wednesday said it has submitted two planning applications to Pembrokeshire County Council for the development of its seven-hectare development site at Slade Lane in Haverfordwest.
The site was purchased from J Sainsbury PLC in 2015 with planning permission for a 95,000 square foot retail superstore and associated petrol filling station, Conygar said.
The two applications Conygar said it had submitted on Wednesday were for a retail-led mixed use development, which would comprise of 10 retail units, a 60-bedroom hotel and 434 car parking spaces, and for a cinema and restaurant development.
The proposed developments would create around 460 full-time equivalent jobs, plus 23 full-time jobs during the construction phase, Conygar said, adding that it would "explore all opportunities to ensure that these employment opportunities serve to benefit the residents of Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire as a whole".
The outcome of the application is anticipated in late 2016 and if approved, construction would start at the site in early 2017, Conygar added.
"Following the withdrawal of Sainsbury's interest in Slade Lane, we believe that our revised proposals represent the optimal solution for the site and would result in an exciting new retail and leisure destination, which would further enhance and support the on-going development of Haverfordwest," said Chief Executive Robert Ware.
Shares in Conygar were up 1.7% at 134.00 pence on Wednesday morning.
