Consort Medical Says Voke Inhaler Gets Marketing Authorisation

12th Sep 2014 06:59

LONDON (Alliance News) - Medical devices company Consort Medical PLC said Friday that the Voke nicotine inhaler received market authorisation from the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

The device was developed by Kind Consumer Ltd, and will be commercialised by British American Tobacco PLC subsidiary Nicoventures. Consort's Bespak division will manufacture the product.

"MHRA authorisation is a major achievement for Kind Consumer, Bespak and Nicoventures on this innovative medicinal product," said Chief Executive of Consort Jonathan Glenn in a statement. "The authorisation is a significant milestone towards market launch and our experienced team are now focused on delivery of the product."

Kind will now seek a variation of the marketing authorisation, to incorporate product refinements into a further version of the inhaler.

Consort said that production facilities to support the launch of the product are already in place at Bespak's King's Lynn facility. Construction on its expanded facilities to support full contracted volumes of the product are well advanced, it added.
