Connemara Announces Exploration Plans For Thurles And Donegal

11th Apr 2014 15:21

LONDON (Alliance News) - Connemara Mining Co Friday said it is starting further surveys at its three licences in the Thurles Area and said fieldwork is currently underway at its Donegal block of 10 licences.

The zinc and gold exploratory mining company with operations in Ireland said it is starting geophysical induced polarisation and resistivity surveys across previously identified structural targets at the Thurles Area.

The company said the surveys have the aim to improve its geological model for the block as well as sampling and analysing key intersections from its 2012 drilling programme to see if it can define more prospective areas.

Significant work was previously completed on the three licences by Connemara including four drill holes, which didn't find mineralisation but did find positive structural indicators.

The company also said fieldwork is currently underway at its Donegal block of 10 licences, which it was awarded in November 2014, in order to better outline a specific target.

Connemara said it obtained and analysed data for the site, including soil samples, which identified the broad structural zone for further study.

"The Thurles exploration programme is designed to better identify potential drill targets while the Donegal exploration is designed to give a general understanding of what might be there," Chairman John Teeling said in a statement.

Connemara Mining shares were untraded at 4.0 pence.
