Computacenter expects first-half profit behind 2021 level

29th Apr 2022 11:03

(Alliance News) - Computacenter PLC said on Friday that the removal of lockdown measures in the geographies it operates has meant a return to a more normal and sustainable cost base in 2022.

The Hertfordshire, England-based computer services company reported "strong" top line growth in the first quarter of 2022, with growth in adjusted pretax profit at a more modest level due to one very large volume customer that diluted its overall margin.

Adjusted pretax profit at the end of the first half is likely to be behind that in 2021, Computacenter warned. In 2021, adjusted pretax profit stood at GBP118.9 million.

Computacenter explained the first half of 2021 creates a "more challenging" comparison than the year as a whole, so to be ahead of 2021 in profit terms after the first quarter is "pleasing".

Though the company noted wage inflation and supply chain shortages as concerns for the year ahead, it said it remains on track for the year as a whole.

Computacenter will publish its interim results on September 9.

Shares in Computacenter were down 3.9% at 2,632.20 pence on Friday morning in London.
