(Alliance News) - Codemasters Group Holdings PLC said Friday the release of its new licensed IP game Fast & Furious Crossroads is now uncertain, following the decision by Universal Pictures to delay the next film in the Fast & Furious franchise to April 2021.
Shares in the video game developer and publisher were down 5.9% at 223.00 pence on Friday in London.
The F9 film was expected to be released in May, and Codemasters was intending to launch the game alongside the film.
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe SAS - a Japanese video game developer which distributes Codemasters's games - is said to be working closely with partners at Universal Games and Digital Platforms concerning the film's new release date.
Digital Platforms leverages IP and characters from NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast Corp and owner of the rights to Fast & Furious.
Codemasters said it and subsidiary Slightly Mad Studios will continue to finalise the game as planned.
Should the company release the game in the first quarter of its 2021 financial year, Codemasters expects the later release date of the film to not have a material impact on its financial expectations for the period.
