(Alliance News) - Coca-Cola HBC AG on Tuesday said it is committed to achieving net zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2040.
The FTSE 100-listed firm bottles and sells Coca-Cola Co beverages and other drinks.
Through an existing and "science-based" target, Coca-Cola HBC said it will reduce its value chain emissions by 25% at 2030, with a further 50% reduction in the following decade.
"To address the 90% of emissions in scope 3 resulting from third party actions, Coca-Cola HBC will broaden its existing partnership approach," the bottler added.
The plan to reduce emissions includes a EUR250 million investment in initiatives, switching to 100% renewable electricity and low carbon energy sources, and a sustainable approach to packaging and ingredients.
For customers, the plan includes energy-efficient and eco-friendly coolers.
Coca-Cola HBC has introduced CO2 emission reduction targets into its long-term management incentive plans.
"This commitment is the ultimate destination of a journey that we started many years ago," commented Chief Executive Zoran Bogdanovic.
"It is fully aligned with our philosophy to support the socio-economic development of our communities and to make a more positive environmental impact."
Coca-Cola HBC shares were up 2.0% at 2,425.40 pence in London on Tuesday.
