Coal Of Africa Says Makhado Project Granted Environmental Authorisation

6th Sep 2013 15:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - Coal of Africa Limited Friday said that the Makhado project has been granted environmental authorisation, with effect from August 30, by the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism.

The company engaged in the exploration and development of coal projects in South Africa said that it has been granted environmental authorisation under the National Environmental Management Act and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations by the provincial agency.

"We welcome the decision by LEDET, which is a further step towards achieving full regulatory compliance for the Makhado Project, and enabling meaningful contribution to the socio-economic transformation of the Limpopo Province," said Executive Chairman David Brown in a statement.

Coal of Africa shares were trading at 9.50 pence per share Friday afternoon, up 4.2% or 0.38 pence.
