(Alliance News) - Close Brothers Group PLC said Monday it has appointed Sally Williams as an independent non-executive director with effect from January 1.
The company said on joining the board, she will become a member of the board's audit and risk committees. At the same time, and consistent with the group's other independent non-executive directors, she will also become a director of the group's banking subsidiary, Close Brothers Ltd.
Williams has extensive risk, compliance and governance experience, having held senior positions at Marsh Inc, National Australia Bank Ltd and Aviva PLC, Close Brothers said.
Williams is a non-executive director of Lancashire Holdings Ltd and of Family Assurance Friendly Society Ltd, where she chairs the audit committee.
Mike Biggs, chair of Close Brothers, said: "I am very pleased to be welcoming Sally to the Close Brothers board."
"She brings extensive experience of the financial services sector and her appointment will further strengthen the range of skills and experiences represented on the board. Diversity continues to be an important focus for the board in succession planning," Biggs said.
Close Brothers shares closed up 2.3% in London at 1,663.00 pence each on Monday.
