Clarkson Increases Dividend Again As Profit Rises By A Quarter In 2015

7th Mar 2016 07:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - Clarkson PLC Monday said it will increase its dividend once again after it achieved a 26% rise in profit and a 27% lift in revenue during 2015.

The FTSE 250 shipping services group said its pretax profit rose to GBP31.8 million in 2015 from GBP25.2 million in 2014, as revenue climbed to GBP301.8 million from GBP237.9 million.

Profit before exceptional items came in at GBP50.5 million compared to GBP33.8 million in 2014.

That prompted to the company to increase its dividend for the full year by 3.3% to 62.0 pence from 60.0 pence in 2014, meaning the company has progressively increased its dividend every year since 2002, it said.

Clarkson said its forward order book for 2016 stands at USD151.0 million, compared to USD110.0 million at the end of 2014.

"The challenges witnessed across the global shipping markets have continued into 2016. The macro-economic environment remains very uncertain and as such we do not anticipate any changes to our markets in the near term," said Chairman James Hughes-Hallett.

Clarkson said it has a "solid balance sheet" which includes GBP91.6 million of net funds.
