Civitas Social Housing turns to E.ON to reduce carbon footprint

28th Jun 2021 11:00

(Alliance News) - Civitas Social Housing PLC said Monday it has entered a national framework agreement with German utility E.ON SE to help to reduce the carbon footprint of its portfolio.

"This innovative agreement is focussed on 55 properties with lower EPC ratings and forms part of the company's objective to reach carbon neutrality," Civitas said.

It added: "It builds on successful pilot projects that have already been undertaken by CSH and E.ON."

Civitas said the deal should lead to reduced maintenance costs and energy bills at its properties.

"CSH intends to structure an environmental programme across its portfolio over a number of years with the objective that costs incurred by the company do not compromise our stated intention of targeting progressive dividend growth for shareholders," Civitas continued.

Chair Michael Wrobel added: "We are delighted to be working with E.ON on this important programme that reflects the scale and ambition of CSH to deliver significant environmental enhancements. These will reduce our carbon footprint and enable residents to benefit from lower maintenance and energy costs, whilst preserving our target of progressive dividend growth for shareholders."

Shares in Civitas Social Housing remained flat at 116.40 pence on Monday in London.
