CityFibre Wins Dark Fibre Connectivity Deal With Easynet

11th Aug 2014 09:35

LONDON (Alliance News) - CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC has signed a long-term agreement with Easynet under which it will deploy dark fibre connectivity to 176 public sector sites in Kirklees, West Yorkshire.

Under the deal, CityFibre, the fibre optic infrastructure firm, will build and design a 72 kilometre fibre network which will let Easynet, formerly known as MDNX, offer fibre network connectivity solutions to Kirklees borough as part of an overall solution for the local council.

The firm did not disclose financial details of the deal, but said the total contract value will be in line with previously stated guidelines.

The agreement is the first contract win for CityFibre with a partner under the Government's Public Service Network national procurement framework. It is also the first time a supplier accredited under the PSN programme has incorporate an extensive dark fibre solution in delivering the project.

"In a digital age, we must ensure that our towns and cities are furnished with a next generation and future-proof digital infrastructure supporting the public and private sectors. Our partnership with Easynet is an exciting opportunity for local authorities up and down the country to make the most of the PSN," said CityFibre Chief Executive Greg Mesch.

CityFibre shares were up 1.5% to 68.999 pence.
