CityFibre Signs Deal With Logicalis For Newport Network

4th Feb 2015 13:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC on Wednesday said it entered into a partnership with IT services provider Logicalis to create a 'Community Safety Network' in Newport in Wales.

The project has been awarded to the pair under the UK Public Services Network and is the first deal won by CityFibre in Wales. It is the second contract win for the company's dark fibre services in partnership with an accredited provider for the framework, following the deal won in August for Kirklees.

The initial fibre deployment will connect more than 40 sites in Newport and will be designed to help the city in using smart technologies in the future.

CityFibre did not provide any financial details on the project, but said it expects the contract to expand out from the initial scope of the agreement.

"This project forms an essential part of transforming Newport into a modern, fully connected, digital city and we are delighted to be working alongside Logicalis, a prominent name in both the public sector and enterprise space," said CityFibre Chief Executive Officer Greg Mesch.

"Their selection of us as partner is a powerful endorsement of CityFibre's model, and we look forward to exploring further Public Services Network opportunities with them," Mesch added.

Shares in CityFibre were down 0.7% to 68.00 pence on Wednesday afternoon.
