LONDON (Alliance News) - CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC said Tuesday it has signed a deal with Scottish Network service provider Commsworld Ltd for the first phase of a deployment of fibre network infrastructure in Edinburgh.
CityFibre said the initial 50 kilometres of fibre network is backed by a commitment from Commsworld to migrate a significant proportion of its customer base into the new infrastructure. A total of 150 kilometres is anticipated to be built.
Construction will begin in the summer, CityFibre said.
No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
"We are seeing huge demand for ultra-fast connectivity and as we continue this shift from manufacturing to service based economies, a modern digital infrastructure could not be more critical to a city's success," said Chief Executive Officer Greg Mesch in a statement.
Shares in CityFibre are trading up 0.8% at 66.50 pence Tuesday morning.
