CityFibre Infrastructure Says Over 400 Peterborough Businesses Now Registered For Network

25th Apr 2014 09:06

LONDON (Alliance News) - CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC said Friday that the number of businesses to pre-register for the Peterborough CORE metro fibre network has now surpassed 400.

The fibre optic infrastructure firm said the number of businesses pre-registering on the Peterborough CORE metro fibre network has now surpassed 400, equating to more than 10% of all businesses in the city.

CityFibre said a dozen pre-registered businesses have converted to being contracted customers, via its local service provider partner Businesscoms, several months before the availability of services on the network.

Construction of the 90 kilometre network began April 23 and it will progress across the city with the first services available to businesses by July this year, said CityFibre.

The Peterborough project, announced in November 2013, is being undertaken by CityFibre in partnership with Serco, IT services provider to the Peterborough City Council.

Last week British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC and TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC said they had partnered with CityFibre in a joint venture to establish new broadband services in the city of York, with the aim of building a competing infrastructure to rival BT PLC's Openreach.

Shares in CityFibre were trading 0.63% lower Friday morning, at 78.5 pence per share.
