LONDON (Alliance News) - CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings PLC said Wednesday that its joint venture company with British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC and TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC has chosen Fujitsu Ltd as its build partner for the first phase of its fibre network in York.
No financial details of the contract were disclosed.
The joint venture has been established to build a city-wide fibre to the premise network to rival BT Group PLC's Openreach. Fujitsu will undertake all build activities, including network planning, civil and network construction, testing and interconnection of the network.
CityFibre said that Fujitsu had been chosen for its " in-depth knowledge and experience of delivering networks for Tier 1 Operators in the UK and abroad, as well as its ability to build networks at scale."
Network planning is well advanced, the company said, and first technology and construction activities are beginning in late October.
Shares in CityFibre were trading down 0.1% at 67.95 pence Wednesday.
