Cineworld Promotes Director To Deputy Chair, To Become Chair In 2020

17th Jan 2019 17:44

LONDON (Alliance News) - Cineworld Group PLC on Thursday said it has promoted non-executive director Alicja Kornasiewicz to the role of deputy chair with immediate effect and will make her chair outright in 2020.

Kornasiewicz joined Cineworld's board in 2015. She has been promoted to deputy chair, and will remain in this role until the conclusion of Cineworld's annual general meeting in 2020.

Following that meeting, current Chair Anthony Bloom will step down and Kornasiewicz will be the new chair. Bloom will have served as chair for close to 25 years at that point.

Kornasiewicz was a member of the Polish parliament after the first free elections in 1989 and also served as secretary of state for the ministry of the state treasury of Poland. She has also held management roles at Morgan Stanley and UniCredit.

Shares in Cineworld closed up 0.4% at 258.80 pence on Thursday.
