LONDON (Alliance News) - New York-listed IMAX Corp on Wednesday said it has signed a deal with London-listed Cineworld Group PLC for the installation of five new IMAX theatres in new multiplexes in the UK and across other European markets.
The theatres will be installed in new multiplexes in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Wednesday's five-theatre deal brings Cineworld's total IMAX commitment to 40 theatres. The pair also said that under a previous agreement an IMAX theatre will be added at Cineworld's new, flagship complex in Plymouth.
"Our strategy is simple ? to deliver a great experience for all cinemagoers, every time. IMAX is a key enabler of this strategy, offering the most immersive cinema experience that cannot be replicated at home," Cineworld Chief Executive Mooky Greidinger said in a statement.
"We are proud to deepen our IMAX partnership with today's agreement. With a tremendous film slate ahead, we look forward bringing The IMAX Experience to more guests across our circuit," Greidinger added.
Shares in Cineworld were trading up 4.1% at 591.00 pence late Wednesday.
