LONDON (Alliance News) - Cientifica PLC said Friday that it has entered into a development agreement with UK based Perpetuus Carbon Group in the hope of speeding up the production of its graphene products.
Graphene is a pure carbon material that is very thin, at one atom thick, but also very strong and able to conduct heat and electricity efficiently.
Perpetuus produces nano surface modified graphenes. Under the collaboration Perpetuus will provide technical support for Cientifica's product development to bring them to market quicker.
Cientifica said that a number of products using graphenes will be displayed at the 2nd Annual Graphene Supply, Application and Commercialisation Conference in Manchester Friday.
The company said that, in identifying a partner, it had been looking for a company that can supply it material in a ready to use form at quantities to meet customer demand.
"We needed to find a company that can supply tonnes rather than grams per week, of consistent quality materials at competitive prices," Chief Executive Tim Harper said in a statement.
No financial details were disclosed.
Shares in Cientifica were trading up 14% at 3.00 pence Friday morning, the third biggest gainer on AIM.
