Character Group Says Strong Christmas Sales Continuing Into 2014

17th Jan 2014 09:47

LONDON (Alliance News) - Toy maker Character Group PLC Friday said that it made good progress over the Christmas period both at home and abroad, as its stock levels improved and customer purchases matched expectations.

The toy company, which makes children's toys based on characters including Postman Pat, said that besides solid Christmas sales, it has also has begun to see signs that post-Christmas sales have remained strong, with sales being driven by popular products such as Minecraft, Teksta and younger kid's favourite character toys Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam.

"Whilst the growth of UK sales across several categories is pleasing, it is also satisfying to note that international distribution and sales continue to develop strongly," the company said in its trading update.

Character Group said that it is too earlier to change any financial projections for the financial year ending August 2014, but it believes that its balanced portfolio should provide continued growth.

Shares in the toy firm were trading at 189.87 pence per share Friday morning, down 3.5%.
