(Alliance News) - Hammerson PLC on Wednesday said Chief Executive Officer Rita-Rose Gagne plans to retire in 2026, after five years at the helm of the London-based property and investment company.
Gagne has informed the board of her intention to step down next year and will remain in the role for the next 12 months to allow for a smooth leadership transition. Hammerson said the extended notice period will provide time for a full handover and ensure continuity in delivering the group’s growth strategy.
Chair Robert Noel thanked Gagne for her "outstanding leadership" since joining in 2020, highlighting her role in reshaping Hammerson into the UK's "largest listed pure-play owner and manager of prime retail and leisure anchored city destinations".
"[Gagne] has driven a substantial turnaround, transforming and strengthening Hammerson. The company is now well positioned to continue to deliver growth and value creation," Noel said.
Reflecting on her tenure, Gagne said: "We are successfully executing a clear growth strategy and have tremendous momentum for sustainable long-term value creation. With the business in great shape… it is the right time for me to pass on the baton."
Hammerson said it will begin a formal search for Gagne's successor and provide updates in due course, including the date she will step down from the board.
Hammerson shares were down 2.4% at 275.40 pence in London on Wednesday morning.
