Centrica And Weir Chair Charles Berry To Take Medical Leave

(Alliance News) - British Gas owner Centrica PLC on Wednesday said its Chair Charles Berry will take a leave of absence for to medical reasons.

Berry took over as the FTSE 100 firm's chair last February, replacing Rick Haythornthwaite, who announced his plans to step down after six years in the role on May 2018.

Centrica Non-Executive Director Scott Wheway will take on the role on an interim basis.

Berry is also chair of engineering firm Weir Group PLC. Weir's Senior Independent Director Barbara Jeremiah will assume chair responsibilities during Berry's absence.

Centrica is penned to release its financial results for 2019 on Thursday.

Its shares were 1.5% higher at 83.38 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon. Weir Group was 2.4% higher at 1,429.00p each.
