CentralNic's Technology Platform Used By Client Radix In .store Launch

26th Apr 2016 09:27

LONDON (Alliance News) - Internet platform business CentralNic Group PLC said Tuesday its back-end technology platform has been used by client Radix FZC in the launch of its new top-level domain .store.

Radix is a domain-name registry operator and has previously launched .website, .space, .online and .site, all of which use CentralNic as their technical back-end partner.

CentralNic said Radix's new top-level domain, meaning the last segment of a domain name, offers an "alternative to traditional domain endings such as .com, .net and .co.uk, catering to the global e-commerce market".

CentralNic said the .store domain will cater to established brands, small businesses and start-ups that want to build an online store and join the e-commerce market.

CentralNic added that the "sunrise" period for .store is underway and, during this period, certain unnamed trademark holders will be invited to secure domain names in the format "TheirTrademark.store". This will be followed by the Early Access Phase commencing on June 7, which allows anyone to register domain names on a first-come, first-served basis by paying an early access fee. The domain will then enter a general availability phase on June 14.

"Radix has pulled off another significant coup in obtaining the .store TLD and in bringing it to market as the first e-commerce TLD," said CentralNic Chief Executive Ben Crawford.

Shares in CentralNic were down 1.0% at 50.00 pence on Tuesday.
