CentralNic Says New Domains Including .Site To Launch On Its Platform

1st Apr 2015 08:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - CentralNic Group PLC said Wednesday that a slew of new generic top level domains will be made available to customers exclusively through its platform, including .online and .site.

.online, .site, .tech, .love, .forum, .fan, .rent, .realty will all be made available via CentralNic's platform, and it has also won the tender to be the exclusive technical platform provider for the .coop domain.

A top level domain name is the suffix of an internet address such as .com or .net which are designated to approved organisations by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. ICANN has only allowed a relatively small number of domains until now, such as .com, .org and .gov, but following a change of rules governing domain names it is now allowing a plethora of new domains.

CentralNic has already fully launched nine generic top level domains on its platform, including .wiki, .website and .xyz.

Its clients have nineteen additional domains progressing towards launch, some of which will be supplied to retailers through CentralNic's wholesale platform, and domains for corporations.

"I am delighted that so many of the savviest gTLD applicants, from successful entrepreneurs to global blue chip companies, have selected us to partner with them to deliver their gTLDs. It is my view that we are servicing the most compelling portfolio of gTLDs of any provider in the world, and it continues to get bigger and better," said Chief Executive Officer Ben Crawford in a statement.

Shares in CentralNic are trading up 8.7% at 25.00 pence Wednesday morning.
