LONDON (Alliance News) - Internet platform business CentralNic Group PLC on Thursday said it has signed a joint venture with internet domain name consultancy Right of the Dot LLC under which the pair will create retail websites for city domains.
The pair will work on creating domain names focused on specific cities, including London, Las Vegas, Tokyo and New York City. The joint venture also will include the roll-out of specialist online stores for another twelve cities and regions by the end of the year, CentralNic said.
"The roll-out of these new city domains presents an exciting opportunity in the industry of top-level domains. We anticipate that these new domains will be hugely popular for businesses across the globe, and so we are excited to be making the necessary investments to become a part of this new series of top-level domains," said CentralNic Chief Executive Officer Ben Crawford.
CentralNic shares were up 1.3% to 46.60 pence on Thursday.
