CentralNic In Deal To Offer Four Radix Registry Domain Names On Platform

24th Mar 2014 12:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - CentralNic Group PLC Monday said it has added .press, .website, .host and .space to its portfolio of uncontested domain names after signing registry service provision contracts with the owner of the names, Radix Registry FZC.

Under the deal, CentralNic will offer the four domain names to domain name retailers through its platform. The domain name retailers then sell to end users.

CentralNic said the deal adds the four names to its existing portfolio of 25 uncontested names that are ready for market.

A top level domain name is the suffix of an internet address such as .com or .net which are designated to approved organisations by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. ICANN has only allowed a relatively small number of domains until now, such as .com, .org and .gov, but following a change of rules governing domain names it is now allowing a plethora of new domains to go online.

CentralNic said it expects to launch the four Radix domain names on its platform in the second quarter of 2014.

CentralNic shares were down 3.2% at 75 pence Monday.
