LONDON (Alliance News) - CentralNic Group PLC has Wednesday launched the new Top-Level Domains .website, .press and .host, via domain retailers worldwide.
The internet platform business said the new domain names are from Radix Registry FZC, one of the leading applicants for new TLDs, which uses the CentralNic platform under an exclusive agreement.
The domain names have been launched following a research process and each target a specific consumer group, said CentralNic.
.website has been launched as an alternative to the .com TLD. It is open and available-to-all for the full range of possible uses. The .press TLD will provide its users a platform to share opinions and disseminate information, with the primary target market including journalists, bloggers, media professionals, news providers and book publishers. The exclusive new gTLD for the webhosting industry, .host is aimed to be the extension of choice for web hosts, ASVs, ISPs, cloud service providers and other such entities, said CentralNic.
"Coming from Radix, one of the most experienced and best resourced companies in the new gTLD space, .website, .host and .press are domains already in demand. They already have the highest pre-launch profile among consumers of any TLD launched to date, and deep support among retailers globally. We expect to see excellent sales from them and from the other TLDs Radix will be launching," said CentralNic Chief Executive Ben Crawford.
Shares in CentralNic were Wednesday untraded, quoted at 63.00 pence per share.
