LONDON (Alliance News) - Central Asia Metals PLC Friday said production has reached record levels in the third-quarter at its Kounrad SC-EW copper recovery plant in Kazakhstan, and it is expected to hit the company's production target for 2014.
Production from the Kounrad plant reached 3,337 tonnes of copper cathode in the third quarter, an increase from 2,962 tonnes a year earlier. It is the highest quarterly output achieved from the plant since it started producing in May 2012, said the company in a statement.
Following the increase in production, the total output from the plant in 2014 stands at 8,432 tonnes. The plant remains in line with the company's production target of 11,000 tonnes for the full year, it said.
At the end of September, an additional 5.6 megawatt of boiler capacity was commissioned to facilitate the increased production.
Central Asia Metal shares were up 1.6% to 170.68 pence per share Friday morning.
