Central Asia Metals Kounrad Production Up, On Track For Full Year

7th Apr 2016 08:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Central Asia Metals Ltd on Thursday said production increased at its Kounrad dump leach, solvent extraction, and electro-winning copper recovery plant in Kazakhstan in the first quarter.

Central Asia said copper production for the quarter to the end of March from the plant was 3,207 tonnes, up from 2,350 tones a year earlier. Copper sales also increased, up to 2,550 tonnes from 2,233 tonnes.

Central Asia said it remains on track to meet its 2016 production guidance of 13,000 to 16,000 tonnes.

In addition, the second stage expansion of the project, which will allow the company to leach copper from the larger resource within the Western Dumps, has started. Central Asia said it is on track to deliver production from the Western Dumps in the first half of 2017.

Central Asia shares were up 3.8% to 172.81 pence.
