Central Asia Metals Completes First Stage Of Kounrad Plant Expansion

21st May 2015 09:47

LONDON (Alliance News) - Central Asia Metals PLC said Friday it has successfully commissioned additional solvent extraction and electro-winning capacity at its Kounrad copper recovery plant in Kazakhstan, the first stage of an expansion programme at the plant.

Stage one of the expansion programme has been completed ahead of schedule and within budget, it said, and this has increased the plant's annual production capacity to 15,000 tonnes of copper.

The company said it is on track for its 2015 production target of 13,000 tonnes of copper.

"The company's main focus is now on implementing the Stage 2 Expansion programme, the approvals process for which is proceeding as scheduled, and on continuing to actively seek growth opportunities in Central Asia and other regions," said Chief Executive Nick Clarke in a statement.

Shares in Central Asia Metals are trading down 1.7% at 190.25 pence Thursday morning.
