(Alliance News) - Celtic PLC named Martin O'Neill as interim manager once again, until the end of the season, after the dismissal of Wilfried Nancy.
The Glasgow, Scotland-based football club on Monday had announced the departure Nancy, who had been appointed on a two-and-a-half year contract in December. Nancy left Celtic after just eight games, the last of which was a 3-1 home defeat against Glasgow rivals Rangers.
O'Neill was manager of Celtic at the start of the century, departing in 2005.
O'Neill then went south of the border for his next managerial position, with English side Aston Villa from 2006 to 2010 before a stint at Sunderland, also in England, from 2011 to 2013. He then managed the Republic of Ireland's national team from 2013 to 2018, during which it qualified for Euro 2016. A short stint at Nottingham Forest followed in 2019.
He returned to Celtic, on an interim basis, in October 2025, after Brendan Rodgers left the role. He then made way for the arrival of Nancy.
O'Neill's first stint at Celtic saw him win three league titles.
Celtic shares rose 2.5% to 204.00 pence each on Tuesday morning in London. The company has a GBP193.9 million market capitalisation.
