(Alliance News) - Castillo Copper Ltd on Tuesday reported encouraging initial test results on a composite sample from the Fence Gossan Prospect at Broken Hill that confirm rare earth elements can be readily separated from clay and "potentially beneficiated to a higher-grade concentrate."
Preliminary metallurgical test-work was carried out on a 20-metre composite sample from the prospect in the BHA Project's east zone with clays subjected to froth flotation.
This work resulted in two to three times rare earth element enrichment from the head grade being obtained at up to 70% recovery.
The base metal explorer, primarily focused on copper across Australia and Zambia, has approved appointing a specialist consultancy to conduct an in-depth metallurgy test-work programme which on completion will be key to securing interest from potential off-take partners and providing a path to market.
Shares in Castillo Copper finished 2.9% lower at 0.85 pence at the close in London on Tuesday.
