(Alliance News) - FTSE 250 cruise line operator Carnival PLC said Wednesday its subsidiary Princess Cruises is cancelling its early 2021 World Cruise and Circle South America cruises on two ships, the Island Princess and the Pacific Princess.
The Island Princess was intended to start its World Cruise from North America, and the Pacific Princess its Circle South America from Australia.
Princess Cruises blamed restrictions and limitations with border and port access, as determined by government and health authorities. Princess Cruises also noted the continued uncertainty surrounding air travel.
"We share in the disappointment of this cancellation for guests of our world cruises because it's a pinnacle cruise vacation experience, booked by some of our most loyal guests," said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises.
On Tuesday, Carnival's Cunard cruise line had extended the operation pause for three of its ships from November until around spring 2021.
Shares in Carnival were up 2.0% at 997.06 pence on Wednesday in London. The stock has fallen by more than 70% in 2020 to date.
