(Alliance News) - Carnival PLC on Thursday said its German subsidiary AIDA Cruises has extended the pause of its operations until the end of August.
The cruise ship operator said that while it believes AIDA will resume cruises later this summer, currently the conditions for safe travel do not exist in many of its destinations.
People whose cruises have been cancelled will be reimbursed for payments made to AIDA so far "in the form of a travel credit" plus a 10% bonus. Additionally, in order to support travel agencies, AIDA will pay out a liquidity advance worth 10% of the credit value. The advance will be transferred to the sales partner as soon as AIDA has issued the travel credit for the joint customer.
Carnival said the extended suspension does not include individual departures from AIDAprima, AIDAperla and AIDAdiva.
The stock was trading 3.9% higher at 1,061.00 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London but 71% lower than the start of the year.
